So, what does an out of State tag cost, and where do I apply?

I'll just use my "duck stamp" and claim "I thought it was a duck". Lol

Yeah that might work. Huhuh.

And who's responsible for when somebody mistakes a light aircraft or microlight for a drone, and starts shooting at GA aircraft?

Keep in mind, Deer Creek may not ever even see a drone, let alone be able to bag one.

Well after giving this some thought all I have to say is I guess this sucks for anyone flying an ultra-light or sport class aircraft. Second; is the hunting equipment going to be limited to something in the line of a deere rifle or can I now go out and buy me an anti-aircraft canon?

The video says it will be limited to shotguns 12 GA or smaller. Any drone low enough to get taken down by a 12GA shotgun deserves to be taken down. It's more likely that a drone hunter will take down their fellow drone hunters by shooting into the sky with a shotgun than it is for them to actually "tag" a drone.

I'm all for having less government meddling in my life, but wouldn't this constitute destruction of U.S. government property, which is a federal offense, which can have serious jail time attached to it?

Frankly if the government doesn't like it they can go fly their drones elsewhere. I'm more than mildly disturbed by the George Orwell(1984) nature our society seems to be taking on.

Of course it would. But real 'Mericans like to shoot shit. Remember, any law that we don't like we can ignore because our radios told us so.

A fairly strong laser aimed at it's optics should do the trick.

You'll need to tag'em and bag'em to get the bounties. (c8

Presumably the drone would be hunting a human. In the light of the possible collateral damage of getting the wrong human, being able to shoot back might be a Good Thing. Oh, yeah, by way of full disclosure, Deer Creek is not too far away from where I grew up.

Maybe Florida can amend their "Stand Your Ground" legislation to include drones. One could claim self defense as you thought the drone was hunting you instead of your neighbor.

I'm sure the Feds will be charmed by this one. Hee haw, I guess.

Have you not noticed how the government has taken a turn for the worse? We have the government committing more crimes against citizens than the KKK. Also, all the billions of $ and they have nothing to crow about: can't catch terrorists, can't secure the border, can't run it's own agency's(IRS, NSA, etc), can't defeat the drug lords, can't control the financial industry, can't control the welfare system, and healthcare......sweet Jesus. And I'm to think drones are some kind of answer. Get real.
JetMech24
JetMech24 1
Can you name any victims of the crimes you speak of?
WALLACE24
WALLACE24 1
How about 3000 victims in New York. Who let the terrorists in the country? Who lets criminal illegals across the border that kill US citizens. I am a victim of paying taxes to to collect your phone records which I could care less about. They flat out are not doing their job.
JetMech24
JetMech24 1
LOL! For a minute I thought you were serious. The 3000 victims are victims of terrorism, not the US government, PERIOD. Who let the terrorists in, you mean BEFORE there was a war on terror? Who let them on the planes with box cutters BEFORE there was TSA? Collecting phone records probably costs you a whole 1/10 of a cent a month, if that. They have not been doing their jobs for decades and people like you, I assume you vote, keep putting them in there.
WALLACE24
WALLACE24 1
Glad you're satisfied and feel safer with TSA. I can't think of one area where the Feds are producing a satisfactory performance. My vote hasn't helped anyone get re- elected in a while. As you can guess I am in favor of term limits. Lol. As far as drones, I think they are a great military weapon but have no place in the civilian arena. The drones they are getting will be operated out of range of small arms fire for the most part. So if you get a drone stamp on your hunting license better invest in a stinger too. Lol
JetMech24
JetMech24 1
LOL. I didn't say that I was happy with or feel safer with the TSA in place, but, for whatever reason, they are working as a deterrent. Yes, drones are a great military tool and I have no problem with their use, whether it is abroad or in my back yard, they need to hunt and kill the enemy no matter where they are by use of any means or tools necessary. 9 times out of 10, the only drones you will see flying over the US will be armed with cameras, not weapons, so they can fly them around all they want for all I care.
joelwiley
joel wiley 1
You touched on a little observed point with the military weapon and civilian arena. The way the war on terror is being conducted, three is a blurring of the demarkation between the battlefield and civilian territory.
WALLACE24
WALLACE24 1
The "war on terror" says it all to me. In war you have a license to kill. No rights, no rules when it comes right down to it. Any that are in place are only there so we can claim civility, but they go out the window fast when necessary. When you talk letting the Feds and every police dept in the country use drones against citizens it seems like a bad idea to me. Just look what the IRS has morphed into. Lol
joelwiley
joel wiley 1
At the risk of being disappeared, I agree completely.

But they can fly planes and heli's over us all day long and its ok? I fail to see the difference.

To which do you refer as insane, drone use or drone targeting? In 'drones just trying to help', are you postulating that drones are sentient and altruistic? I see them as neither.
OTOH, your comment may be satire.
