Search underway for 3 Canadians after plane missing in Antarctica
The Rescue Co-ordination Centre New Zealand is leading the search after the Twin Otter aircraft’s emergency locator transmitter was activated about 10 p.m. Tuesday. Weather is said to be hampering efforts to locate the plane, which is equipped with cold-weather survival gear. “It’s a pretty inaccessible spot. As of this morning the beacon has seased to work, thankfully it was working for the past two days which gave the rescuers the location of the aircraft. Now just to have to weather co-operate so we can get them out of there.

Plane missing in Antartica
A plane travelling from the South Pole has gone missing in Antarctica, a New Zealand government agency says. The pilot has been identified as Bob Heath from Inuvik N.W.T. Rescuers began searching for the Twin Otter aircraft after its emergency transmitter was activated at around 10 p.m. local time Tuesday, Maritime New Zealand said in a release.
