Watch This WestJet 737 Get Blown Around In Halifax

eklendi

A strong winter storm blew threw Halifax, Nova Scotia a couple of days ago, closing the airport. After the airport reopened, operations resumed, but this WestJet 737, seemed to want an early takeoff. (flightclub.jalopnik.com) Daha Fazlası...

“A strong winter storm blew threw Halifax, . . . .”

Threw? Check the spell checker!

You are absolutely right, but despite being the wrong word, it is spelled correctly, spell check would not have helped.

That is exactly my point. Of course "threw" is spelled correctly, if one means the active verb form of the word, e.g., to *throw* a baseball or other object.

The spell checker will also indicate “through” or even (gulp) "thru" is spelled correctly, too, which would have been right choice in this story.

Check the spell checker to determine if the word the checker provides is what the author/editor means to say. To rely totally on a spell checker can (and does) cause confusion and is, frankly, laziness. Burma Shave.

The guy in the blue vest, who notices the plane's motion before anyone else, is fun to watch in the first few minutes. He really thinks that he can stop the plane from moving, and then push it back into place! And the cameo appearance of the Sunwing 737 behind this comedy on ice adds just a bit of irony to the scene. Of course, it ends just the way we've come expect, with all of the workers standing/sitting around wondering what to do next.

Not to spectacular... I saw a plane that wind grabbed a hold of, took it off of 3 sets of chocks and slammed it up against another jetway... Over 3 months to repair...

I thought Sunwing was going to slide right into Westjet!

seems like the ramp and gate areas should have been de-iced before the airport reopened. It was obvious that the flightline was very slick, as it took that Sunwing jet some time to make that turn off the taxiway.

Yup.... Bad Ramp... A/C will require mtc inspection, but knowing the 737 and its stout gear, there will be no problems... the ground crew will have a bigger problem getting it relocated on the gate.

Note to self: When a 150,000 lb. uncontrolled object starts coming at me, put my hands up to stop it. Got it.

Actually, the guy in the video was holding it quite well... Was not much force required... There was not much lateral pressure actually moving it... the ramp was just that slick...
