Boeing to reduce 747-8 output starting September amid slow cargo market

This is a sad read. With the 744s retiring at such a clip, I worry about the long-term outlook for the 747-8 and the 747-8i. Such beautiful and elegant aircraft. Especially the freighter with the shorter upper deck. I hope the cargo market recovers sooner rather than later!
The 747-8i seems to be such a great airplane, I'm really surprised that it hasn't been picked up by more airlines. I know the A380 is the noteworthy big plane, but the 747 history and the improvements made in the -8 would seem to point to airlines replacing their -400s with the -8s. It will be sad to see the 747 go if production totally stops...I agree she's beautiful and elegant and modern...Airbus is an appropriate name for the type of planes they produce
