I guess what they are doing is OK but I would have figured that the noise would be on departure and the thrust required for takeoff. A 777 comes over the fence at about 130kt and very little power if the approach is set up right. I can't see a lot of fuel or noise here. Just sayin'
They seem to have 200kt or less speed limits around most big cities for noise abaitment. Do you it is possible to find a way to increase speeds over populated areas without raising the eyre of the natives(and is it worth it)? I guess what I am asking is can you save time and $$?
I don't know that it will be worth it, and in looking at the 200kt figure, there is a lot more noise generated and fuel used getting to that as opposed to coming down to it. I just think they are going about it bass akwards.
