Piper Apache (N4951P)

This used to be my plane, a great stable flying twin. Engines are actually 235hp as this is the notable Apache 235 which has the Aztec fuselage not the old Apache. Picture was taken at Nantucket ACK, airport.
Only about 115 of these were made and probably only about 50 still flying. Does not have cowl flaps as engine has augmentor exhaust which helps cool as well as adds a small power boost. Hope the owner is enjoying this fine old bird.

Some years ago this was my plane. Looks like someone is doing some training in it. Always good. This bird may be slow but she flies beautifully. The Stec a/p was great too. That picture is one I posted years ago when I flew into Nantucket airport, ACK, where I flew to often. PS I didn’t stop flying as I went on to flying for a small coal company that owned a nice Aztec and a fabulous Cessna Golden Eagle 421B. What a pilot’s bird that was, complicated but a great performer. Blue skies all!!!

BTW, pictures 2 and 3 are from up at Burlington airport, VT, BRV. Great place to land and good custom access coming in from Canada which had done that day. Had a girlfriend up there. This bird spent a lot of time in FL to and flew to the Bahamas too. Good memories with this plane. Got my MEL Commercial Instrument in her plus my CFII MEL where my examiner even had me do a few rounds in a hold with simulated single engine. That wasn’t required but we did it anyway. She can do it very well. Those Hershey bar wings and that huge empennage make it an extremely stable and maneuverable plane. With the winning lottery ticket I would have one of these again!!!!!
