Sikorsky MH-53E Sea Dragon (16-1181)
FENIX11 performing at the Centerpoint Energy Dayton Airshow on Sunday, 22 Jun 2025. The Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion and crew are from Marine Heavy Helicopter Training Squadron 302 (HMHT-302), Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina under command of Marine Aircraft Group 29 (MAG-29) and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW).

I get to see one of these bad boys once a week or so on Hilton Head Beach heading to or from MCAS Beaufort. Need to get a better camera.

Stationed at Futenma MCAS and Tustin MCAS(H), I saw these every day, and as part of HMT-301 at Tustin, we had 46s, 53Ds and 53Es. HMH-465 and HMH-466 were both at Tustin (now at Miramar). It was always cool to see them with loads attached to both hooks. They are some truly large helicopters.
I can't get over the engineering it takes to get all of those nuts and bolts to go in the same direction and pretned they are flying!
The 53 has been around for over 60 years. I flew in it in Vietnam 1968-'70.
