What Causes the Radiation in them? or was a radioactive substance put in them?

@ Travis Mauldin, the massive amounts of radioactive dust in the air around Chernobyl in 1986 would have gotten on and in every system on the aircraft to the point that it would be unsafe to even attempt to clean it. As far as I know nearly every object that went into the exclusion zone in 86 after the disaster became highly radioactive, and of course the humans who operated these machines likely had long lasting health impacts due to the ludicrously high levels of radiation pouring out of the reactor. For more info I would recommend a brief read thru the wiki about the Chernobyl disaster.

Thanks! Do you know what caused the radioactive dust?

Travis Mauldin >>> As Timothy McDonnell suggested, "goggle up" the Wikipedia info on the Chernobyl disaster... or just type in the word "Chernobyl".

WOW! Thanks, Cliff. :)
