What is it? Look like some country ripped off our design of the F-16 and put the intakes on either side of the fuselage and shrunk the whole design a bit just to say it's not the same thing.
Doug Lewis - this is the AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-kuo, otherwise known as the Indigenous Defense Fighter (IDF) of Taiwan's (The Republic of China) Air Force. It first flew in 1989 and shares little with the General Dynamics F-16 design. This one is a twin engine layout, albeit, its two Honeywell F125 TFE1042-70 turbofan engines are said to be only rated at 9,500 lbs. each of thrust with with afterburners in use. Any perceived inspiration this type might have drawn from the F-16 would, of course, be quite understandable considering the time line and era of its design. You should view a side profile (which appears rather slim when visually compared to the F-16) and other profile views of this aircraft before jumping to any strongly held conclusions, however.
