Excellent news. Imagine the fights on board EVERY FLIGHT when some loudmouth is on the phone for hours and participating in conference calls.

I totally agree. I recently returned from the UK and we were stuck in a holding area at DFW for an hour waiting for a gate at Terminal D because of problems with other aircraft. As we had landed, folks were allowed to use their cell phones as is common practice with US carriers. It was hell - a 777-200 full of folks, and even with only 20% of people using their phone's, I was ready to tear my hair out!

What about an area where it is enclosed and soundproof so people can make phone calls without bothering other people?

As far I a concerned with the airlines are not going to be happy about that since it is going to take out extra seats.

They're called first class suite. The airlines would be happy to sell you one at the going market rate.

That is one thing that is nice about flying... Some idiot beside you is not on the phone the entire time... That really pisses me off... Do not want to see people using cell phones in the air.

Its bad enough sitting, no sandwiched, next to someone watching an "R" rated movie. Now I dread the possibility of having to listen to one side of an inane conversation all the way from Pittsburgh to Fever.

I foresee multiple arguments and lawsuits.

How about from Washington, DC to Seattle? That would be enough to cause some major "air rage"!

Commuter railroads found a solution, quiet cars. How about flying Cell Phone class on the back of the plane. Section it off from the other normal people. And for that extra fare, you can yak to your heart's content. What's it worth? $40 per coach fare?

Make that "yak section" just beyond the tail section.
