Interesting (unless I missed it in here) that this story doesn't outline what was clear in a story I saw on another website that the union representing TSA officers wants an armed division of the TSA. I do not like that idea, and amazing the Head of the TSA John Pistole agrees with me. Don't get me wrong...I'm an advocate for firearm rights, but not in the hands of the TSA.

Law Enforcement Officers (LEO in the report) must meet certain minimum compliance under the Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) requirements. The report does not mention an internal enforcement arm of the TSA, but to have better coordination and response with LEO entities.
I think many current TSA employees would not pass the initial POST screenings.
I'd be very wary of any attempt to create TSA armed wing.

TSA want's a lot of things... I think the biggest thing TSA does is to employ the underprivileged.

You are looking at this the wrong way. The TSA union is just trying to elevate the underprivileged to the privileged one dues-paying member at a time. 8-)

LOL, I stand corrected... even though it is no laughing matter.

Well, at least the report found at the link below isn't calling for arming all the TSA Pax shakers:

It does recommend making sure all the panic buttons are tested to make sure they work, and to expand the voluntary training on "Active Shooter Response" to be mandatory- the gist of the training is duck, hide, & call the cops. Reading between the lines, the TSA rank and file suggestions seemed to mimic the public's "there's never a cop around when you need one".

Read and enjoy.

No, but the Union that is representing the TSA is calling for it. It's not in this story or in the report, but was reported separately on another news site.

That si=ounds like an income-saftey issue rather than a public-safety issue.

They could even ticket those guys on the tugs that drive to fast and run into the landing gear...then there is that guy who chucked the cone into the left engine of that plane...they could all dress like "Inspector Gadget".

There is already airport police that do just that... Working in KMEM they will pull people over and give them a ticket, 1st one is $50 & lose your sida for 1 week, 2nd $150 & loose your sida badge for 2 weeks, 3rd Loose your SIDA BADGE Permanently
