Here's a suggestion: Park the trucks farther from the runway.

That would probably be too simple. They'll have to figure out something that costs money. LOL

It's not like this was a 380 which takes up a lot more runway. The wingspan of a 787 is pretty close to a 747, which have been around for years. I haven't read about any airports damaging a 747 lately with a water salute. I'm in favor of all the firetruck operators taking a depth perception test.

I can agree that it is ultimate responsibility of the pilot, BUT, if you are on the centerline, you have a reasonable expectation of clearance for the aircraft you are driving. IMHO.LOL
