This poor airplane has been kicked from pillar to post it's entire life. Based on the long list of former owners it's very doubtful this airplane ever really had proper care and maintenance done on it
No wonder something finally just let go. Lucky it was on the ground when it caught fire. You can be pretty sure Cheap-O-Air will not spend a dime towards getting this airplane back in service. Low cost carriers never do like thieves in the night.

Agreed about your statement as way back after WW11 the non sced as they were refered to bought old DC3,4 and C46 AC and started service with them. Very little was done other than enough to keep them flying. Same is happing now with Allegiant and others buying cheep used AC to operate. Its going to get worse as the FAA cant keep track of everything.

2ND BOEING ENGINE TO CATCH FIRE IN TWO MONTHS!!" - Aaagh! My wife will attest I was screaming at the TV when CBS news flashed this line this morning. Gotta love a good, accurate, news scare story. So, Boeing does not make engines. Las Vegas 777 was a GE engine on full take-off power. This 767 incident is a P&W engine on low taxi thrust if not idle...

Ouch. Plenty of damage to the wing....just think of all that fuel just about the fire and thank not only the Fire Dept's response but also the training of the flight crew to ensure everyone got out.

Yeah, I don't think she will take to the skies again. :(

A comment not about the incident, but about the nbcmiami.com web site.

Those interspersed (and completely unrelated) article links in that article made it nearly unreadable. One or two might be tolerable ... but a giant headline link every four lines of text?

All of those who got there luggage while leaving should be fined for doing so. Its not as bad as the one at SFO but still bad enough stupid people.

Im wondering why noone else noticed the leak after pushback or while it was taxing on the ramp before the other pilot saw it where he did...you can see a trail, in the pictures and video, of what looks like fuel or oil behind the craft

Lack of proper maintenance most likely!

That's kinda ragged what with TIMCO having a big FBO at GSO

Is Dynamic Airways a maintenance-free airline?

Probably, if they're sealed...

I admit that was my first (uncharitable) thought.

Dynamic Airways is a part-121 certified charter carrier based in Greensboro, North Carolina. The carrier operates a fleet of Boeing 767-200s on behalf of tour and cargo operators domestically and internationally. Dynamic's AOC also includes Cargo airline, 21 Air. The owners of Dynamic Airways also run fellow part-121 carrier, Swift Air in addition to owning the Kansas City Overhaul Base, a former TWA maintenance centre.

It says they own an overhaul base in KC, doesn't say they use it themselves.

Report of 'leaking fluid' before the fire. Missing gas cap?
Ruger9X19
Ruger9X19 2
Fuel cap is not likely, more likely an un-torqued fuel line coming loose is most likely.
Least likely but possible is a clogged fuel vent line. Pump pressure can cause the skin seams to separate. I've seen it happen. The boss was not happy.

They use dry break fittings on all fuel ports for fueling. There are caps on them but due to design they are just needed to prevent dirt from collecting in the fueling port.
lahtiji

That was my second thought. An alert Silver Airways crew reported it moments before the fire.

This is the second incident involving a B767, left engine recently for similar reasons. Maybe it's time to ground all of them for a mandatory inspection of all fuel lines. Boeing and FAA are you listening?

Actually the other one was a 777, but then we're not all "experts"

Yes lets ground all the airliners right now. How dumb can you be? Oh forgot another know it all poster here that knows all about AC and how they operate. Another thing at least know what type you are talking about. That kind of says it all.
