Boeing gets a massive amount of money from the US Gov (you and me) every year. #1 recipient of Tax payer dollars. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2019/03/27/lockheed-martin-boeing-get-most-money-federal-government/39232293/

Whether its a bag of bolts or tools (in Boeing speak spare parts), the loss of confidence in Boeing is massive.

Losing the refueling contract would have been good for Boeing. Sometimes you need a slap in the face to wake up to your problems.

What I cannot wrap my head around, is how is it the 179 tankers will only cost about $45 Bil according to the GOA office? I think someone must have slipped badly with a math mistake. That would put each unit, that has a Boeing cost of $223 mil, plus maintenance, @ roughly $26 mil each.

It's a heck of an aircraft but without flexibility in the end of the boom, it's going to be 1 of the hardest to re-fuel.

The culture of the military is of honor and a trust of your fellow soldier. When these folks collide with the corrupt business practices of many vendors, you aren't going to get a good outcome. It is not the nature of the military to constantly question your superiors which needs to be done when working with contractors. The military needs a department of Guido to beat on contractors and keep them in-line.

Boeing is not better than Airbus so quit with the "King Boeing" With Boeings BS as of late, this just adds to it. This is Not the Boeing I admired of yesteryear!

Why in the H do engineers have to make things so stupid. Mount a camera on the boom and a camera on the tail and have 2 monitors..both camera would have night visibility..aircraft gets close, you can then watch the boom to make sure it's on target, guiding both it and the pilot...smh.

You are forgetting the time needed for all the corruption in a typical Govt Contract.
