RIP.... I have the utmost respect for all the Military Pilots as well as those who fly our planes, or in this case pilots who support the free world.

Respect to these brave women who encountered dangerous frontline combat - this has not been recognised until very recently. My condolences to her family.

One of the greatest generations...We could use people with that kind of spunk and courage today....Thank you for your service and I hope she’s up in the wild, blue, yonder now....

Many women ferried aircraft from factory to an operational airfield in WWII but they were not restricted to type and would jump out of a spitfire and after retuning to base take another aircraft of any type to the next destination.

Wow, talk about unsung heroes! Like Rosie The Riveter, they were the life's blood of the war effort. RIP!

Just watched "Spitfire" documentary on Netflix a few days ago which mentioned about the "ATA" team during the War. Nothing but respect for them! From this story, I followed the link for another "ATA Girl", Mary Ellis, who was featured in that film, and learned she has passed away around 2018 at a "ripe" age of 101!!! Their longevity must have something to do with flying! RIP!

Crappy article. A map strapped to their calf? How would that work? Or was it their thigh?
