C'mon...folks.....humans have had a love-hate relationship with aviation and aviators since going back in time before the ancient Greeks. Nothing new about an airline passenger making a big deal about seeing something he, she, or it has no background on.

I dont think a month goes by without someone, somewhere, calling the police about an airplane crash, because they have no way of comprehending that we who operate amphibious aircraft, land in water...!
(Sometimes, (perish the thought....just for the fun of it).

Have some sympathy for those involved with media. They like eating just as much as you do. They get fed by selling advertising space. They get that, by having something to sell. It is called "NEWS". If they cant find it...they generate it.

Bottom line - as my grandfather used to say..."MAS NICHT"....!

I think that is "macht nicht" (makes nothing). Good point tho. And I loved flying in a 757....

You are right. Often it's stated as "Es macht nicht."

Not "often" stated. Grammatically correct.

Ha ha - we're both close... it's "machts night"!

"Es macht Nichts" (lit. it makes nothing) is grammatically correct. Sometimes shortened to "macht Nichts".

A perfect explanation. There was no risk at all for all the people onboard.

Mistake in the first sentence. Flight was going from San Fran to Boston, diverted to Denver.

"Let’s face it, everyone is looking for attention, for views and hits, be it FOX News or the Times or a 16 year-old Instagrammer."

Bingo! Social media has given lots of people an avenue for gaining attention.

And social media allows people who think they know something, and don't at all, to hide behind anonymity and simply get the attention they seek. A side effect of technology allowing for the democratization of relevance. As my father used to say, , , "if you can't contribute to a discussion, stay quiet and learn"

Yep, it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Masherg's Law defines this phenomenon.
Also, a high school physics teacher told us:
"If a million people say a stupid thing, it is still a stupid thing."

then why fix it ? ? ? one million people saying this is wrong, why did it happen & what else is wrong with this BOEING aircraft is hardly stupid . . .

Good article. Thanks for posting it.

Very well stated in the article. I'd be more concerned with what goes on INSIDE the airplane than what goes on with it on the outside.

Just to be a wise guy: "Doesn't matter" is "macht nichts". "Macht nicht" ist "Don't do!" (2nd person plural imperative).

We cannot defend Journalists for 'mas nicht' ---- this is inexcusable.
If these numpty morons actually did some investigative journalism in this world today and fully exposed the corruption of Govts, Politicians, Banks, Big Pharma, Big Tech, the FED/IMF, UN, WHO etc etc etc etc -- (my goodness there is enough subject matter out there for all of them, incl. Boeing and the FAA), then they could perhaps be defended -- Until then, they are of absolutely no use to anyone (except of course those who fund them, their paymasters those megalomaniacs Soros/Gates et al) and therefore MUST be ridiculed, I would suggest even abused!!!

There's no such thing as "investigative journalism" anymore. Not from the corporate media. This is why the ratings for all mainstream news outlets are tanking. They've become nothing more than the propaganda arm of the all the institutions you listed.

There are actually plenty of people doing this kind of work, and doing it very well, but they get labeled "right-wing conspiracy theorists". That's the establishment's term for anyone who comes withing fifty feet of the truth.
