Owls supposedly bring good luck. I'd keep it onboard.
krschneider
owls are damn fine pilots! And I'm pretty sure there aren't any rodents under the seats. :D

“Hi” said the owl. “I just got back from the USA where I amassed 250 hours and I’m your new F/O”!

How did the owl get inside the plane especially the cockpit? They have a pretty wide wingspan. They really aren't known for walking..

Aircraft was probably being ground/cabin serviced overnight. In good weather, it is common to leave entry doors open. Owl flew in unnoticed, landing in "front office". just a guess.

Feel-good story in more ways than one!
How pleasant to not hear the usual rants about third world airlines and their crews. Even from the usual suspects! Cheers!

This owl confirms that Jet Airways is "fly by night". And that's just a joke I thought of after reading your post. I have no idea what this airline is like.

Going by what 1 of the other posters asked, I'm glad no one actually asked the owl for a passport. Can you imagine the conversation that would have taken place...and gone on for hours?
Customs: "Do you have a current passport sir?"
Owl: "WHOO"
Customs: "You sir"
Owl: "WHOO"

A wise old owl sat on an oak,
The more he saw, the less he spoke,
The less he spoke, the more he heard,
Why can't we be like that wise old bird?

Very sweet. Barn owls live inside structures. It isn't a far stretch to think he has a home in a hangar nearby.

Barn Owls don't hoot like most owls do. Instead, they make a ominous harsh scream that lasts about 2 seconds. Unfortunately in many African countries, they are regarded as a sign of evil and doom to come.
On the contrary they are avid catchers of rodents like mice & rats.
The Great Plague that killed 300 to 400 million people worldwide was caused by fleas living on these rodents.
joelwiley
joel wiley 1
The are a sound of doom . . . to mice, rats, voles, and gophers.

The owl just wanted to visit his relatives in Jolly ol' England, maybe for a pint or two.

That plane with the owl in the cockpit looked pretty worn out!
gageaa
From the looks of that engine and all the people standing around it in the second pic, that triple’s not going anywhere soon.
gageaa
Maybe the bird misheard that they needed to look at the engine “owl” instead of “cowl.”

As much as I would like to read this article, it's complaining about my ad blocker. So I guess they are out of luck (and maybe I am also). If everybody ran an ad blocker, we'd quickly sort out the wheat from the chaff.

They released the bird, it was reported in the local media also. I don't think anyone will kill the bird for entering the plane.

oh ok.. and anyways.. they aren't just going to "kill" a owl for no big reason..
whip5209
That would have been a ridiculous thing to do. If they were worried about the owl being near the airport, they could release it some distance away.
