If the battery problem is solved then I fail to see any reason to look at the ETOPS rating.I was sceptical about this airplane from the start even though I am a Boeing fan. I refuse to fly on Scarebus. Perhaps it was too much of a radical change in airplane construction. I was resisting change which is a stupid thing to do in the era in which we live. I hope the Dreamliner is going full strenght and full distance ASAP.

politics flies again.
isn't hurta the same clown who said that the 787 will not fly again until they can prove to me that it is 1000% ( yes, that is one thousand percent)safe.

Though I have been a caustic critic of Boeing in the context of 787 , but all the hoopla regarding concerns other than Battery related ones were ofcourse exaggerated and misplaced .
I hope that Boeing have learnt their lessons well and will be more humble and more professional while tackling day to day operational and production matters as well as long term design projects .

If I am allowed my attitude , my answer is yes . Let me ask you and every one . How do I or you or any one come to know if the particular aircraft or a railway train or a bus or even your private transport is safe to travel on ? We travel every day WITHOUT asking these questions . And , either these vehicles fail or do not fail us . Fail us in our expectations about them , about people who operate them and control them .
Life is based on 'funny' assumptions and that is why we manage to live on .

Could somebody explain for me -- a non-aviator -- why the 787's ETOPS certification should be in question?

Hasn't the 787 demonstrated its ETOPS capabilities over and over and over again ?

How is a 787's ETOPS certification any different from a 777's?

It's about time to let this plane fly again!
