A Colorado pilot found himself without a license or a job after failing a drug test -- a situation he said he never imagined he would be in. “'We found THC, marijuana in your urine.’ For a (www.foxnews.com) Daha Fazlası...

“Cupps said he went to bed soon after and did not feel any different.”
Well except for the fact that he got up in the middle of the night and ate 3 bags of Doritos, a whole box of oatmeal pies, and a gallon of Haagen-Dazs!

So what? But...8 hours bottle to throttle is ok?

I've gotten drunk, gone to sleep for 10 hours and woke up still drunk.

This anti-cannabis sentiment is insane.

One night while stationed in Korea, went down to the Village after going through an IG Inspection. On the way back to post, fell down & bruised both knees. Room was spinning when I got back to my hooch & was still spinning 12 hours later when I woke up

Actually, if things happened in the order that Mr. Cupps lays out in the article the airline itself was in violation of FAR 120.109(a).

At least he got an MRO to work with him.

I think Brian is right. I just re-read the artical and something is wrong or taken out of text......

“I got hired. I passed my checkride. I got in.”.....”You just need to take a pre-employment drug test so we can get you on the line.”

Everywhere I’ve worked I was tested on the first day of before I started and the results were returned within 48 hours. He states that he took his check ride and still haven’t been tested! That’s weeks or even a month or two after he started!
I’m sure it was taken out of text or its a BS story

For everyone who doesn't know what that is... https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/14/120.109

That might be a grey area. 120.109(a) "No employer may hire any individual ..." and
14 CFR 120.7(j)Hire means retaining an individual for a safety-sensitive function as a paid employee, as a volunteer, or through barter or other form of compensation.
I think the key here is retaining. Bringing him aboard pending the drug test appears non-violative.

if it can be shown he injested the edibles unnowingly, his license must be restored, and with the pilot shortage most everywhere, he will live and fly from a new base, perhaps somewhere where such edibles are less prevelent.

Lucky for him he hadn't eaten a poppy seed bagel.
