Soyuz lands safely, tips sideways
It always amazes me how the Russian capsules land. They use a parachute, but, since they land on ground rather than water like the Apollo astronauts did, they need something to cushion the landing. Retro rockets are fired for the last meter or so of the landing. If a new crew can not be prepared in time, the space station will be unmanned after the next trip. Does anyone know if they still use a feeler extending below the capsule to trigger the retro rockets?
You call that a landing, more like a crash.
