The next 787 pilot?

Could be. I remember when a young Naval Aviator was asked how he excelled so quickly and in such a short time. He replied "MS Flight Simulator". NAVY incorporated it into training.

I've been trying to get AOPA to get really serious about encouraging flight students to spend a whole lot of time on the students own personal Microsoft flight sim or any other home simulator before they go and after they sign up for flight school. They are worried about the declining number of licensed GA pilots, but all they preach is changing this or that in flight school training.

There are many bright aspiring pilots out there, yet not enough mentors, and some negative outlook on both GA and professional aviation. Still have the yolk and rudder pedals for the home simulator. Sadly, my son changed majors (Aeronautical Engineering), fearing the climate in Aviation.

Tell me about it, I've racked up more time flying CAT III ILS approaches in a 737-800 than I have flying an actual Cessna for my PPL. I don't have to pay for the aircraft, fuel or instructor in MSFS.

Pretty cool. I'm so jealous.
