Qantas Perth – London Route A Success: 787-9 “Exceeding Expectations”
The first direct flights between mainland Australia and the United Kingdom have been a major success, according to a report published by Geoffrey Thomas at The West Australian. Over the first six months of operation, there has only been one upset to the schedule, due to a mechanical problem. Just out of curiosity. When was the major hiccup on this route that caused a issue for 2 days??
It was few weeks ago now. Included bussing the Melbourne pax to/from Mel in an A330. I'll see if I can work out the date.

Although the flight duration has often been less than scheduled, on-time departures from EGLL are pretty rare and the figures I checked over a three month period showed the flights arriving 30 minutes late on average. In addition to the glitch mentioned in the article, one recent flight was cancelled completely.
The 787, 7X, and a350 are or will go just about anywhere from anywhere, and they are asking for more range. Why go through the sand box. Me thinks messrs. clark will not be ordering any more a380's.
Looking at that paint job on the first pictured aircraft, there is no wonder why Qantas is so expensive to fly.
