Swiss Airbus A220 engine problems

As per the article it was engine software that caused the engines to “overrun” and damage parts etc.. with all the single pilot talk etc.. these software developers need to get their act together, test test and retest.. this is not software you can update when it fails mid flight.. this stuff has to be solid code, no errors.. a new standard of coordinating work and testing has to be developed for the industry.
Software, really? Does anyone test this stuff? You just can't have failures like this in any mode of transportation.
