Belarus: Politics, Piracy or Airspace Risk?
Several countries and aviation bodies have urged airlines and operators to avoid the airspace of Belarus following the country’s interception of an international flight bound for Lithuania and forced to land in Minsk. Is there any cause for additional concern? Or was this a one-off event that poses no additional threat to airspace safety? (ops.group) Daha Fazlası...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
human nature suggests this action will repeat unless the rest of the aviation world steps down emphatically on this tin-pot soviet synchophant. Russia seems poised to be unhelpful here- cancelling flight plans on those airlines that decline to fly through Belarus and pay the fees to do so. Punching a bully in the nose early on has usually been found to be the better policy. No easy way out of this problem.
This is clearly an act of piracy by a government. Sanctions against Belarus should be coming from Russia first.
