Every day I work, I contribute to the IRS, Social Security, and Medicare. Since I am in a sense on government business, I should be allowed to top off at Moffat too.

If that's the case, then they shouldn't be deducting SS out of our paychecks!!!

Not to mention ss is not a gift - you pay for it- it's an insurance policy. Not a very good one either.

Yeah obviously you contribute more to the government and the world than Google itself. How dare the DoD deny you perks that go against the free market economy

Why should the taxpayer subsidize the travels of these billionaires and other Google executives? Rep. Darrell Issa should launch an investigation and demand a full reimbursement.

Psst... Darrell Issa works for them. He's what you call a Republican.

Don't know about Issa, but it looks like (from the article) the Republican senator (Sen. Charles Grassley) from Iowa is calling for an audit. When the numbers come back we'll see what develops.

taxpayers subsidizes all billionaires in America. its called they pay a lower tax rate than us, courtesy the Republican party.

We have had almost 5 years of a dem pres. Do you think Mr Soros' federal tax rate has increased? It isn't just republicans.
WALLACE24

Do you pay higher than the 35% federal ordinary income tax rate or more than the standard capital gains rate?
andytyler
Andy Tyler 1
No millionaire pays the actual 35% of their gross income in federal income taxes. That number is usually between 13-24%.
WALLACE24
WALLACE24 1
It is not figured off gross.
tarbaby
phil gibson 1
Yup....you're right....it is figured of the NET! ........after ALL of their eligible expenses.....do you realize that many corps pay very little income tax, such as grocery stores.....which pay approximately 1% of the net. They are not the only ones. They collect taxes from us "taxpayers" and send that to the govt' entities........in actuality we "taxpayers" are paying the taxes due......go figure.....
WALLACE24
WALLACE24 1
I have never seen a tax rate listed as 1%. When corps distribute dividends the receivers pay the tax. The only real disagreement here is what deductions they take not the rate. If we had a flat tax based off gross income then maybe people could understand. I would. But then the Feds would be exposed. Lol. Not gonna happen.

You might talk with Larry Ellison's accountants.

Would he tell me they pay 1% of net?
joelwiley

No, just that he pays every cent due....
after they finish the paperwork. Works out the same.

So you have no idea what Larry pays. I'm guessing the bulk of his income is cap gaines as opposed to ordinary income. That alone can cut your rate of tax in half. This year it's up again, now 20% but has been way lower just a couple years ago. Thats why he gets a lot of pay in stock not salary. Now Larry may be like a lot of corps and derive a lot of income out of the country and not pay any US tax on it. Our preferred GPS people, Garmin, was a Cayman Islands based corporation, now a Swiss based corp and you know why. The deductions is where he changes the liability but his RATE is the same as anyone elses. Remember, all deductions are political, courtesy of your favorite president, congressman, or senator. The IRS does not sit around and dream up these deductions to help you save taxes. Lol.

How come Microsoft, Boeing, Northrop, Donald Trump etc. are demanding equal treatment? Then of course there is Haliburton, who charged the military something like $9/gal in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. Why aren't they complaining?
