Skylens heads-up display helps pilots 'see' through the fog
Thanks to instrumentation, flying blind in bad weather isn't the problem it used to be, but pilots still suffer the unfortunate effects of spatial disorientation. Not being able to see where you're going causes people to lose their sense of balance and direction, which can sometimes lead to fatal errors -- which is why Elbit Systems has developed the Skylens heads-up display. Nice system... That could prove to be a very nice tool.
Well, as the article says, instruments play a lot bigger role in getting us to somewhere and down to DH. It's that last little dab that can get you and if this can cut thru some of that ground crap, it will be wonderful. That will really play hell with DH and all the CAT landings if it can be made to work good and pass the FAA hounds.
Useful in Beijing. Can't see the runway for smog. Not kidding.
