Residents in Amman found a Boeing 707 parked in the middle of their street, and baffled police patrolling around the plane. The fuselage of the plane, said to have been owned by the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, was being towed when the driver got lost and got stuck in a narrow residential street. The plane was apparently sold to a Lebanese investor, who was intending to turn the fueslage into a restaurant. The Discovery channel crashed a Boeing 727 into the Sonoran Desert in Mexico as part of their new documentary series titled "Curiosity". Poor coordination of a change in the active runway led to a plane approaching the airport for landing while 2 planes were taking off and heading towards the landing plane. By the time the controller figured it out, the planes were hurtling at each other at more than 400 knots and were 12 seconds away from a major disaster. Ethiad Airways, the flag airline for the UAE, has canceled 7 more A350-1000 orders, in it's second wave of cancellations. This brings Ethiad's order to 12 A350s, down 50% from it's original order of 25. The 7 A350-1000's, valued $2.3 Billion at list price, were EADS subsidiary Airbus SAS's answer to Boeing's popular 777 Series. Poorly Made Gearboxes are now creating a headache for ANA, as it moves to ground 5 of it's 787 Aircraft, after fixing 3 787s already. The issue arises from Gearboxes in the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines, which during testing, showed signs of corrosion. Rolls Royce is now working to replace the gearboxes in affected engines. Boeing has released a video of its new concept hybrid-electric aircraft, called SUGAR Volt. The Subsonic Ultra-Green Research Aircraft (SUGAR) is a twin engine aircraft that features engines capable of using electrical power and gasoline combustion to reduce emissions up to 70%.
