— — - KNUQ - NAS Moffett Field in July 1989 Airshow weekend - NASA's Harrier #719 rolling back to the ramp - this back when NAS Moffett had a "2 day" Airshow and the Blue Angels would draw huge crowds. Friday night fly-in's were easy to capture from the frontage road by Hwy 101 that alone would draw hundreds of people. The Airshow was free admission but $3.00US to sit in the viewing stands, in which I was always 1st in line when they opened and got the far north end seat, top level to keep all of the 'spectator heads" out of my camera view. I bet parking all of the P-3 Orions in the distance was fun! Back in the 1960s, my Dad knew a guy around the corner in San Jose, and he was a P-3 Pilot or Wing Comander, and my dad volunteered me to baby-sit his 2 kids when I was about 14-15yrs old. I never wanted to baby-sit kids, but Dad made me to save face since he said I'd do it before he asked me. The P-3 Pilot had a dark blue MGB and he'd give me a ride home at 02:00am and being almost 6'4" it was tough to climb into - but he was an almost twin of the Carrier Captain in the original "Top Gun" movie......so long ago.
