IN June the Commemorative Air Force was in Albany, NY. Always wanted to fly in a Beech 18/C-45. I paid for the co-pilot's seat and even got to "fly" it for a while. Long time private pilot.
It doesn't seem to be this airplane.

Out of the blue of the western sky......

My first real exposure to flying was in the UC-45Js at Pensacola. This was the beginning place for the navigators. I remember getting into one and seeing the date of manufacture. It was as year older than I was! That was 1967.

@JohnRumble99, it looks similar but that was not Sky's airplane. His was a Cessna T-50.
Jose R Gonzalez
That's a plane!

Used to skydive out of Beech 18's back in my skyding days in the mid 1970's. It was a great "noisy ride" up to 12,000 ft.

In the 60's my dad worked for an oil drilling company that had a D-18G. Butler Drilling also leased a 75k acre ranch in the Texas hill country. Our family would fly to the ranch several times a year. The landing strip was a grassy hill that led up to the ranch house. I also flew in a D-18 from La Paz Mexico to Cabo San Lucas in 1971. Three PAX and four surfboards on board! The only runway was dirt!

A bit delicate to fly...
Steven Miller
Jeff,
You're really on your A-game with your shots!

serge,
...and a bit delicate to taxi - especially taxi-turn - had to know when to get off the throttle of the outboard engine - too late and it went all-the-way-round.
jesse kyzer
sky kings first a/c was a T50, a "bamboo bomber", the next was a 310, I think, maybe a 320

Flew Beech 18s as a copilot for FLL based commuter airlines in 1968-1970. right out of college and they were tricycle gear modified. Then in early 70's flew an E-18 for a family fishing operation out of MIA/FLL to the southern Bahama Islands. Probably have 1000 hours in that reliable bird - save for an engine loss over the Atlantic Ocean, making it to "Deadmans Key" airport.
