The first brush fire of 2021 broke out two days ago just north of downtown Sparks. Winds were blowing out of the north but had died down a bit before the fire started, and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District units, assisted by the Sparks FD, extinguished it before it was able to spread too far, but the fact that it ignited so easily is an indicator of how dry the landscape around western Nevada already is. Basically, that fire meant that fire season has begun. This NDF copter will be working within a month or so.

Very true,,,the lying Media will have you think Utility Companies start most grass/veg fires,,,but it is more likely lame knuckleheads that start fires...
