I see that this pic has only been viewed 10 times but that someone has already voted it a "2." I must disagree. That streetlight frames it quite well and it makes the photo uniquely interesting. Would I want to see a bunch of shots like this? No, but I enjoyed viewing this one. Well caught, Ovi, and welcome to FA. * * * *
Hi Gary, I appreciate your generous feedback.
I enjoyed taking the picture a lot, as it took some deal of planning to frame right.
Rating items on this website is rather unfamiliar to me for the time being :))
Cheers!

I agree with Gary. While this shot isn't perfect, it is an interesting pic with nice lighting and an interesting composition. Nice catch, Ovi!
Hi Ovi. I understand what you are referring to as far as "planning' for a shot like this. Every inbound approach is different, so positioning where to stand in order to get this fine result requires the ability (AND the motivation) to hurriedly run or back up or etc to end up with a click like this. Well done.
As for the "ratings" you see here, let me offer you this word ... Don't let the "ratings' your pic gets be of any major concern. Way too many factors (some good, some BS) go into the "rating" someone gives your pics. There are some contributors whose pics are off-center, "drunk horizon" (not level), super noisy (grainy), grossly over-color-altered, fake, or just plain stolen. There are others who post pics of little white, green, and red dots in a dark night sky and then want the rest of us to believe it is their high quality shot of a United Airlines Boeing Dreamliner or some equally ridiculous claim. When people like that see a fine pic like yours, it makes them turn green with envy and jealousy
and they give your pic a low rating. That might be exactly what happened with the first vote your picture here received. Someone gave it a "2." That's probably because it never occurred to the person that a common streetlight could be used to make an aviation photo look uniquely better than the ordinary run-of-the-mill everyday shot. Heck, an ex-spouse or a false friend (I know two of those in my local area) can give out low ratings, so remember that "ratings" aren't the important factor. (There is another factor that is far, far, FAR more important.) So please go right on finding ways to present cool pics. As I have told other friends I've met here on FA, take tons of shots, review them all, save a few and discard all the rest as junk, select one or two from the few that you know are superb and then post ONLY the one that you know will make everyone who views it know that your name on a photo means it is an outstanding photo. If you are proud of your name, be 100% certain that you are proud of your photo. Once again, Congrats on this imaginative shot. ;-)

Wow Gary, much appreciate your taking the time and the keen details offered.
Thank you for appreciating the level of planning, anticipation, patience and dynamic readjustments you need to be prepared to swiftly make in order to get a shot like this just right. In preparation I was listening to the ATC broadcast in parallel with watching the incoming planes' approach ADS-B traces. Essentially the photographer's usable time window is around half a second, considerably reduced by the shooting at 400mm telephoto.
All in all I personally consider this a fun shot taken while in vacation, and by all means not a perfect one in terms of lighting, sharpness, etc. I did take many similar shots and eventually opted to upload just this plane's approach because this particular plane is a rare sight, as opposed to the basic twice-a-day intercity commuter.
With perseverance and a bit of luck in terms of atmospheric conditions and other factors, amazing pictures can be obtained. People rate as they do for various reasons, as you well put it. If it's jealousy or whatever, who knows, that's a problem I don't have :))
Cheers!
