McDonnell Douglas C-9A "Nightingale" med-evac aircraft. All of them were retired in September 2005.

Hi Jim,

Best I recall is that it was at March AFB in the late 1980's during an airshow. I was stationed at Beale AFB and we were there with several KC-135Q's supporting the SR-71 and U-2R that were on display.

These came in weekly while I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall. It was funny seeing 2 463l cargo pallets up front and pax seats in the back. Usually it would fly Prestwick to and from Mildenhall, Souda Bay, Naples, and back. One of the crew told me they were based near Chicago at the time. We didn't load a lot of cargo on it but we could clear out a lot of pax and mail when it came in.
