Brilliant on unimproved strips.
They really are an awesome aircraft - first fight 1935 just 32 years after the Wright Brothers 1st flight in 1903

Douglas's crown jewel. This old bird looks to be well maintained. Way to go Australia ! I love DC-3's. I have a huge model collection of this plane. All different scales. 1/400 up to 1/48. Some custom made.

What a plane. I have flown on one as a passenger back in the 60's. Very nice relaxing flight. I always click on the pic's when they are posted. One of my favorites.

It reminded me when I was at Istres France and it was time to renew my instrument rating. We had a war-weary DC-3 and it served the purpose for my successful rating. I think I had a big smile throughout the flight. Great memories.

Ah, I still remember my 1st commercial flight! Climbing up that steep aisle, and falling back into one's seat. It was loud and wonderful.

From airforce in Sweden i often drow pilots to Bma airport near Stockholm so they could deice the plane, they carried a 5liters container on their back climbing on the wings and handpumped and sprayed the wings
