Gun Taken From Suicidal JetBlue Pilot in Crew Lounge
A JetBlue pilot who was abruptly removed from duty in the crew lounge of Boston's Logan International Airport was carrying a gun, a Massachusetts State Police spokesman told ABC News. JetBlue says the pilot removed from a flight was sick, not dangerous. "Reports that a JetBlue pilot threatened to crash a plane are unsubstantiated," the company said. sounds like the TSA might have to run pilots throught the metal detector. not that i want this to be done, but this guy made it to the lounge, which i assume is on a concourse beyond the security check. EVERYONE needs to be checked, this could have been really bad. glad it turned out ok, and this pilot is not hurt by himself, or the police.
Pilots do go through the same checkpoints and walk through magnetometers like everyone else.
Note that the article said he may have been in the Guns on the Flight Deck program...which would allow him to take a gun through security
Technically its called Federal Flight Deck Officer, guns in the cockpit is journalistic dumb speak for less educated readers and or ignorant journalists.
"JetBlue says the pilot removed from a flight was sick, not dangerous" so why is FlightAware posting this as "Suicidel JetBlue Crew.." Don't you think that we should be innocent until found guilty ?
The title here just happens to be the exact title of the linked ABC News article. Besides, being suicidal is not a crime that you would be found "innocent" or "guilty" of, and I don't think that aspect is in dispute. He was probably believed to be a threat only to himself and no one else.
