Air Force: Our New Tanker Should Be Ready for War in 3 or 4 Years
A long list of technical problems means the KC-46 tanker will not be battle-ready for at least three to four years, a top U.S. Air Force general said Wednesday. (www.govexec.com) Daha Fazlası...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
What I cannot wrap my head around, is how is it the 179 tankers will only cost about $45 Bil according to the GOA office? I think someone must have slipped badly with a math mistake. That would put each unit, that has a Boeing cost of $223 mil, plus maintenance, @ roughly $26 mil each.
"The last plane was delivered debris free". Something seriously wrong this picture if that's a highlight.
Am I the only one who see's humor in the Vietnam era Warthog getting fuel?
It's a heck of an aircraft but without flexibility in the end of the boom, it's going to be 1 of the hardest to re-fuel.
The first A10 entered service the year after VN war ended.
So, Vietnam era then....
Whether its a bag of bolts or tools (in Boeing speak spare parts), the loss of confidence in Boeing is massive.
Losing the refueling contract would have been good for Boeing. Sometimes you need a slap in the face to wake up to your problems.
