Something else to experience while flyin' through a hurricane!

Used to get St. Elmo’s Fire all the time when flying through ice crystals and cloud at high speed. Mostly on the old flat windscreens but sometimes on the contoured ones. Precipitation static build up could be heard through the headset and if you didn't slow down you could get a loud static discharge like a canon going off. Also fun was to call the flight attendant up to the front to show her, place your finger on the windscreen then reach out and touch her hand with your other hand. Nothing happened but her eyes got very big! Gotta love science.
