Kitten's Hip Was Broken On A Delta Flight, But Airline Only Has to Pay $50, Court Rules
A New York state appeals court ruled on Wednesday that Delta Air Lines Inc. is liable for only $50 to a New York woman whose 8-week-old Savannah kitten suffered a broken hip while being shipped by the carrier to LaGuardia Airport. (www.stltoday.com) Daha Fazlası...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
in my opinion it is too remote a consequence. Delta can rebut the claim! How about the possibility that the cut might have developed the injury before coming on-board?
Geez.. No Delta... What next... Delta should be made to pay up.. No reason for this crap.
$50 sounds bout right.
You obviously are not familiar with Savannah's!
You don't need to know contract law to know you should request extra insurance coverage when traveling with valuables that are not in your immediate control.
I may have missed something in the article but it sounds as though the kitten was traveling in the cargo hold. You pay $2300 for a cat and you don't keep it in the passenger cabin with you? (not in the overhead, as we have found out this week)
Airlines may start wising up and decide that carrying pets of any kind is more trouble than it's worth.

Keep in mind that many breeders ship via airlines. My Savannah was shipped by plane. Luckily her's was only an hour 1/2 trip, but for some they have to bounce through plane to plane just like we do, except they are being handled by baggage smashers and thrown onto carts.
I had two pedigree cats and the last thing I would want them to do is a a stinky in the cabin. I flew PPL and had the family dog cut cheese admittedly in a 172 but hoo lee chk watering eyes.
